Adipotide (FTPP or proapototic peptide) is a peptidomimetic with the amino acid sequence CKGGRAKDC-GG-D (KLAKLAK).

Due to its distinct structural specificity, it can specifically recognize and bind to two receptors on the surface of blood vessels within adipose tissue: Annexin A2 (ANXA2) and prohibitin.

It stimulates vasoconstriction and subsequent apoptosis in these receptor cells; the blood vessels themselves cease supplying blood, oxygen and various other nutrients to the cells, programmed cell death being the end result.

This precise mechanism of action is what is directly applied in the field of weight loss.

Traditional glp-1 analogs or other central-acting weight loss peptides do not replicate this form of direct action; adipocytes are the target, apoptosis being the means to achieve weight reduction.

Research Of Adipotide (FTTP)

1.Potential Therapeutic Applications

Its potential applications include – type 2 diabetes, adjuvant cancer therapy, localized fat reduction, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

2.Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity

Independent studies have shown that after seven days of treatment with Adipotide obese adult mice exhibited significantly improved insulin sensitivity, enhanced polysaccharide tolerance and reduced serum triglycerides.

Weight loss was not the primary, or even immediate, effect of treatment.

An 8 month study demonstrated Adipotide to be a highly effective therapeutic agent for managing obesity.

An indirect but validated approach to treating type 2 diabetes is also opened up by this line of research.

3.Adjuvant Therapy for Cancer

Severely obese cancer patients could benefit from reduced adipose tissue (via vasoconstriction and direct apoptosis) to improve all subsequent chemotherapy outcomes.

4.Local Fat Reduction

Local Fat Reduction constitutes a targeted approach of Adipotide’s unique properties.

Adipotide represents a unique therapeutic approach.
